Field note 24.071

The edge is
already moving.

Every frontier begins as an interruption: a line of light where the world stops behaving as expected.

Working premise

LIMEN observes these interruptions. We record what changes as a person approaches, crosses, and returns from the edge of the familiar.

The closer you get,
the less stays still.

First state

Signal

Light appears before structure. The field is visible, but distance still behaves normally.

Second state

Distortion

Scale and direction become unreliable. The observer begins to alter the thing being observed.

Third state

Crossing

The boundary stops reading as an object. It becomes a direction—and then the only direction.

What the field
is doing now.

The threshold is never static. Each reading is a temporary portrait of an environment deciding what it will allow.

Observer note
“The light does not illuminate the landscape. It replaces it.”
— Entry log 0118

Three messages made it back.

None arrived in the order they were sent.

TX / 001 — 00:14:08

Do not follow the light.

It is not ahead of you.

TX / 002 — 00:14:03

The horizon moved first.

We only noticed when it stopped.

TX / 003 — TIME UNKNOWN

There is no other side.

There is only the moment after.

Some doors answer only once.

Will you be
standing there?
